Three Logitech Zone headsets now support call controls over native Bluetooth for Google Meet

Why do business headsets need dongles?

Most of us are accustomed to the seamless wireless audio connection between our smartphones and wireless earbuds or headphones, allowing us to have conversations all day long without any issues. So why is it that we need a dongle for a simple video meeting with our wireless headsets?

Up until now, without a dongle, syncing your Bluetooth headset with your computer to access call controls like mute, answer, and end calls has been difficult. We've all been there: you're in a work meeting using a direct Bluetooth connection, you flip the mic boom down to unmute yourself and start speaking, only to realize you're still muted. This happens because you're still muted in the app, requiring you to manually click the unmute button on the screen. The dongle addresses this issue by ensuring a consistent and reliable wireless connection between your headset and computer, seamlessly integrating with your calling platform for an uninterrupted calling experience.

Native Bluetooth – The perfect solution without receiver

The objective of native Bluetooth is to deliver all the USB dongle features over a pure Bluetooth link to the computer without additional software or a dongle. Native Bluetooth is one such solution that is fast emerging in the business realm, and Logitech has been working with calling platforms like Google to bring native Bluetooth to our wireless business headsets.

Starting from ChromeOS version M127, three Logitech for Business headsets, Zone Wireless 2, Zone Vibe Wireless, and Zone 305, will provide support on call controls over native Bluetooth for Google Meet on compatible ChromeOS devices. You can now free up a precious USB port while still enjoying the handy call controls on your headset via just a Bluetooth connection, such as hanging up calls by pressing the call button on your headset, and making sure your mute status is in sync with Google Meet when flipping the mic boom up/down.

With Logitech’s native Bluetooth support, you can now enjoy seamless call controls on Google Meet without the need for a dongle. It’s a simple, effective solution that frees up your USB ports and streamlines your workflow.
