NETGEAR Engage™ Controller and AV OS Enhancements

by PageFly

NETGEAR have announced the latest maintenance release, version 24.04, which significantly updates the Engage Controller and the AV OS built into every M4250, M4300, M4350, and M4500 switch.

What's New

  • Quick Port Configuration: Easily move one or several ports from one VLAN/Profile to another under Configure\Network Profiles in both the AV UI and Engage. No need to edit profiles anymore!
  • Enhanced UI Clarity: The AV UI header now shows the switch model followed by the user-defined switch name on every page, including in Engage, for more clarity when configuring a switch.
  • New AV Profiles: New profiles for Allen & Heath (gigaACE and GX), Audio Genelec Smart IP, AVoIP Lightware UBEX, Blustream Multicast (Video and Dante/AES67), Hybrid SMPTE AES67 BC (Core) and TC (Edge), HP Poly StudioNet Modular Room Switch, and Unite Audio (Glidenet).

Note that the Hybrid SMPTE AES67 BC (Core) and TC (Edge) profile is currently only applicable to the Management VLAN for untagged traffic through the uplinks. Future maintenance releases will remove this limitation.

About Engage 2.0
Engage 2.0 allows for effortless WiFi control in AV fixed installations with touch panels and tablets connecting to ad-hoc wireless networks, enhancing the control of AV endpoints across VLANs. For large events, the platform allows installers to create temporary WiFi guest networks to provide a robust WiFi solution for mobile studios or crews, ensuring guests stay connected. For residential settings, the enhanced capabilities streamline AV deployments allowing AV system integrators to manage both AV systems and home WiFi networks.

Top New Features include:

  • Router Management: One PR460X Pro Router per site for connecting to the corporate IT network or venue, automatically propagating internet in the VLANs you need, and mDNS traffic across your VLANs.
  • WiFi Access Point Management: Up to ten WBE758 / WBE718 WiFi 7 Access Points per site for wireless connection to the AV network, ideal for AV and lighting control software.
  • WiFi Features: WiFi assignment of user groups (mPSK) to Profiles/VLANs, Auto-Trunk for zero configuration on switches when connecting an access point, and Instant Mesh for simplified setup.
  • Easier PTP-TC: Every Audio/Video VLAN/profile now offers a PTP-TC toggle button in Engage for easy enablement or disablement of the Transparent Clock feature per VLAN.
