When Your Business Internet Goes Down, What’s Your Backup Plan?

A broadband outage can interrupt payments, video meetings, cloud applications and day-to-day work. A second internet connection gives your business another way online when its primary link fails.

The Peplink Balance 310 supports two Ethernet WAN connections and can be configured to switch traffic to a backup link if the primary connection goes down. Businesses can choose the backup that best fits their location and requirements:

Option 1: Two broadband connections

Connect two broadband services to the Balance 310. One can serve as the primary connection, with the other ready to take over during an outage. Where available, using different service providers can help reduce reliance on a single provider.

Beyond failover, it also supports load balancing, distributing traffic across both internet connections to maximize bandwidth and improve performance for applications such as video conferencing, cloud services, and large file transfers.

Option 2: Broadband with 5G backup

Connect your broadband service as the primary link and add a Peplink 5G Adapter as the backup. This is useful where a second fixed broadband service is unavailable or where you want a backup using a different type of connection.

The Balance 310 monitors the WAN links and manages the failover. Your choice of backup should take into account the applications your team needs to keep running, the available 5G signal and the mobile data plan.

Extend the solution across your workplace

For a wider network upgrade, the Balance 310 can also be paired with Peplink’s 8-port 10G PoE++ switch and AP One Enterprise Wi‑Fi 7 access points. The switch provides wired connectivity and power for the APs, while the APs bring Wi‑Fi 7 to staff and guests.

Whether you need backup internet for a small office or a complete wired and wireless network refresh, KairaGlobal can help you find the right solution for your site and business needs.
